Basically you are camping in a remote area with a vehicle. Simply, Overlanding is vehicle-based, on-road and off-road, adventure with the main focus on self-reliance, resilience, and enjoyment of the journey. Since the dawn of four-wheel drive vehicles, modern overlanding has captured the imagination of eager adventurers worldwide, with some of the most iconic places you can travel to. Want to travel to Yellow Stone Park? You can do this with a 4×4 or even a 2 wheel drive vehicle depending on your destination.
As we mentioned, the term overlanding can be traced back to the Australian outback. At the time, farmers had to move their cattle across long distances as the seasons changed. They had to traverse the long distance, and that is how they coined the word overlanding.
The most appealing aspect of overlanding is that ANYONE can do it. There are so many great resources available for learning about: trip planning, off-roading, navigation, communications, vehicle repair and other aspects of overlanding. Check out some of our YouTube videos and blogs on where to get started and go out and explore. Don’t let anyone stop you from visiting some of the greats places out there and discovering areas for yourself. The sky is the limit and your the captain of your own ship when it comes to schedule.
When it comes to overlanding make sure to always consider safety and the areas you are visiting. Some areas can have bears, other can have snakes or even gators. Remember to respect the areas as we are just visiting their homes.
